Autumn ceilidh-book soon to avoid disappointment!

So, two of my favourite people, Clara and Emma, have been busy while we were in Bristol organising a Celidih! It is a leaving party for Clara and her partner as they are moving to Australia but also, bless them, a way to help raise money for Thomas’ post-op physiotherapy.
It’s on November 11th and at Stanton St John Village Hall. 7-11pm. It will be so much fun as Clara’s band are brilliant so if you are free do please come along.
Tickets are selling fast so book soon to avoid disappointment!

Exploring Oxford in our walker again!

Despite a minor set back regarding Thomas splints rubbing him ( Brian is off to Bristol tomorrow to get them altered) this week has actually been fun! We are finding our way with our new routine of daily exercises in the morning before school along with wearing his gaiters to help stretch his hamstrings x2 a day.

With his growing confidence we have managed to go further afield this week visiting favourite haunts such as Millets Farm, the wonderful Story Museum and the incredible Fish Bowl aquarium. We even managed to visit the wee Alice in Wonderland shop which was a nice treat. It is Thomas’ favourite story at the moment and having progressed from his frame to using his walker again he chose a little pocket watch so we won’t be late for Footsteps next week! I can’t wait to see how he will progress over the next 3weeks while we are there. Stay tuned.

A beautiful day

Pre SDR playing outside was always challenging because when standing, we needed to be behind Thomas holding back his knees in the attempt to make sure his legs were straight and to try and prevent his knees from ‘kissing’. Fighting against his spasticity, his tone in this way was hard work and always felt we were interfering with their playtime. Today, on this beautiful autumnal day, we still needed to be there but look at the beautiful standing – legs straight and there is space between his knees! These changes really are a big deal as it means the right muscles are being engaged and nearly 4 weeks post- op he is beginning to get his confidence back and wanting to try things again. It’s a beautiful, beautiful day.

Walking Practise!

Lots and lots of walking practise this week! His gait pattern is improving every day as is his strength and confidence. Most of our team have seen Thomas now and are so happy and excited for him. One more week of taking it step by step before we start our 3 week session at Footsteps. The sun is shining and I can feel the wind through my hair…Enjoy the weekend everyone x

Stanton Ballard donation

We are so very pleased to accept a donation from the Stanton Ballard Trust. The Trustees’ donation towards our fund is very much appreciated, and will help us continue to provide Thomas with the physiotherapy he needs after his operation. Thankyou to the Trustees, on behalf of Thomas.

Christmas Markets

One of my favourite fundraising events last year was selling our Christmas cards and crafts at local markets. It really helped us connect with the community and raise awareness of our campaign. I still have some gorgeous gifts left as well as new ones gathered throughout the year do come along to the Florence Park Community Centre on November 19 and get your shopping done/ finished in one fell swoop!

Persimmon Homes Donation

Every month, for the past 15 months, I have applied for the following ‘programme’ and today we got the call…we have won £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Community Champions Programme!! This is an incredible amount of money and means so much now post SDR as we simply don’t have the time to fundraise ourselves. Thank you so much for choosing to support Thomas’ wish 2 dance.
