A heartwarming donation from the community back home in Wem. We feel blessed knowing that so many people are thinking of us. Thank you for contributing to our campaign.

A huge THANK YOU to the staff and students of ESOL FE College for finding the energy and time to organise a Bring and Share lunch at the end of term in aid of Thomas and our campaign. Together they raised an amazing £135!!!!!
We are so touched by your kindness and thoughtfulness at such a time when, at the end of the academic year, everyone is running on empty!
We have two pieces of news to share today.
Firstly, we have had confirmation from Bristol that they have decided this is the right time for Thomas to receive the SDR surgery. We even have a date – Monday, 18 September.
Secondly, our fund-raising has now reached £60,000, which is amazing. We are so grateful to all of you, as we are now able to fund both the operation and 2 years of physio. We would ultimately like to secure enough for a third year of support, which he will need, but for now we will be focusing our energies on Thomas, and ourselves. We now have 6 weeks to get him – and us – ready for this next “adventure”.

The weather settled long enough this morning to enable friends and family of Mel Bache and Lorraine Sonders to walk together and share a wee picnic in aid of Thomas’ campaign. Together they raised £227! Thank you for helping make this event happen guys. More ‘Walks for Thomas’ are planned in and around the UK throughout August. I can’t help but dream that this time next year he might be able to take a few steps himself…
The first of our ‘Walk for Thomas’ events is taking place this Sunday in Shropshire. A huge thank you to Mel Bache and Lorraine Sonders for kicking off this fundraising idea. Lots of walks and picnics are planned throughout August in and around : Oxfordshire, Petersfield and London. If this is something you would like to get involved with then just let me know and I can email you the information pack that we have put together to help organise and promote such an event.
The weather is supposed to pick up again by the weekend so have a lovely time together. Thank you again for staying with us. We are so close to having raised £60,000!

Attached is a poster for an idea we have to mark one year of fundraising… a ‘Walk for Thomas’ event to help give us one last push towards our target before summer ends.
Essentially it’s a 1 mile walk for Thomas, and a bring-and-share picnic, so a lovely way for people to come together.
Something this whole experience has shown us is, not only how incredible our family and friends are, but how incredible things happen when we do come together. We have friends holding equivalent walks in other parts of the country throughout August, so it feels a real celebration of this togetherness.
I can’t help thinking of how amazing this collective energy will be for Thomas, and us, as we prepare him for this major, but potentially life-changing operation.
Our walk will be in Florence Park, on Sunday 20th August (more details on the poster). We hope you can join us.
And if you can’t, but would still like to be part of this experience, we’d love you to arrange your own walk where you live. We have an organiser’s information pack to help.

We raised £198.00 last night at the Comper Garden Party. It was so exciting to see peoples faces as they won their ‘day out’ vouchers and so I hope they are able to find the time during the summer holidays to enjoy their treat. It was also so nice to have the opportunity to meet so many of the parents we shall be sharing this next chapter of our lives with. Thank you Comper for welcoming us into your Garden party.
